Headline RePLAY – 4.5.12

Today on Headline RePLAY: BioWare announces Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut, the co-creator of Sonic the Hedgehog joins Nintendo and more details on notch’s 0x10c.

True to BioWare co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka’s words, the company is releasing “Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut” sometime this summer, a free DLC package intended to expand, clarify, and provide closure to the controversial ending events of the game.

“Since launch, we have had time to listen to the feedback from our most passionate fans and we are responding,” said Dr. Muzyka. “With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team’s artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe.”

“We have reprioritized our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player,” added Casey Hudson, Mass Effect 3’s Executive Producer.

The Extended Cut includes “additional cinematics” and “epilogue scenes” to the ending in order to “provide additional clarity and closure to Mass Effect 3.” In addition, BioWare stressed that the DLC does not include new endings nor are there any planned.

Hirokazu Yasuhara is the co-creator of Sonic the Hedgehog and directed the early titles personally— and he’s joining Nintendo of America in Redmond, Washington.

It would’ve been inconceivable a decade ago: one of the men responsible for SEGA’s blue, furry mascot joining forces with its industry rival.

And now it would just raise a few eyebrows.

According to Gamasutra, Yasuhara left Namco Bandai last month and is now an official Nintendo employee at Nintendo Software Technology, a North American Nintendo subsidiary.

  • Players will be able to build their own ships.
  • The game will have simple graphics.
  • Duct tape can fix ANYTHING for short periods of time.
